Paper Carrot Treat Box

Who needs plastic eggs for an Easter gift basket when you can make this very cute carrot?!

This carrot treat box holds more candy then the average large plastic Easter egg, and you can make three carrot bottoms out of one piece of 12x12 cardstock.

Here is a supplies list:

• 4 x 11 piece of orange cardstock
• 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 piece of green cardstock
• standard single hole punch
• scalloped scissors
• ribbon
• pencil
• ruler
• glue stick or adhesive of your choice

Trim all four edges of the 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 piece of green cardstock with the scalloped scissors.

Score orange cardstock at 5 1/2 inches.  The score line is shown in black dotted line down the center of the orange cardstock.
From the score line measure up 1” and make a dot.  Measure to the left 1” and make a dot.  Measure to the right 1” and make a dot.
On the short end of the paper measure 2” up and make a dot.


Turn the paper around and do the some to the other half of the paper.
Connect the dots with pencil on both halves of the paper as shown on the left side of the picture above.  Score on these lines.

Fold the paper in half on the score line and punch two holes side-by-side on the fold.  While keeping the paper folded, punch holes in the corners on the open end of the paper.

When opened, your paper should look like this.

Fold the green scalloped square using an accordion style fold like this.

Insert the tip of the scalloped square into the hole and glue it down on one side.

Fold box on the score lines as shown above.  Add glue to the carrot top indents to keep them together. 

Fill the box with candy or other treats and run your ribbon through all four holes and tie it close.  The holes may not all line up and that is totally fine.  The box will still come together nice and neat at the bottom. 

Leave it plain or add some carrot striping or embellishments of your choosing.
